6. Description:
We will be meeting on Wednesdays from 10:15 am to 11:15 am to learn colours, shapes, numbers etc. in the German Language. The curriculum will be suitable for:
- Toddlers (age 18 months to 2 years)
- Preschoolers (ages 3-5)
Classes will take place in the VEC (www.vec.ca), a private ESL School in Yaletown from January 12th to March 30th, 2005. Children under 18 months are free (if siblings), while siblings only cost an additional $50 extra. You must pre-register and pay on the first day of class.

6. Description:
We will be meeting on Tuesday morning from January 11th, 2005 to March 29th, 2005. Times are 9:30 am to 11:30 am. There will be a snack provided, but parents are encouraged to bring their own food, as well.
- Babies (0-17 months) - $2 Drop-in charge each week
- Toddlers (ages 18 mo. to 2 years) - $2 Drop-in charge;
Have the option to participate in preschool program, space permitting (Preschoolers have priority)
- Preschoolers (ages 3-5)- Special Program for $5 additional charge - includes art, music, dance etc.
There will be a maximum of 8 children allowed in the Preschool Program.

Join the brand new DKV Society - Deutsche Kinderschule Vancouver Society that parents and families of children with German heritage can join.
The mandate of the Society is:
Parents of German heritage or parents from Europe living in Vancouver or the lower mainland who wish our young (under 6 years of age) children to be raised in a German-speaking environment, as well as being exposed to the culture and traditions of Germany.
Mission Statement: we would like to support families with children of European background, as well as families living in Canada who wish to have their children be raised in a bilingual, culturally aware environment.
What are some goals?
a. To teach children to speak and understand German
b. To teach children about their cultural heritage in the framework of a multicultural society
c. To support families and newcomers to Vancouver from Europe
d. To meet the needs of the German Community in the lower mainland
e. To raise funds and awareness to meet the above-stated goals
f. To provide a high quality, fun, parent-friendly child care program
g. To work with the German Schools of BC to collaborate & share resources
How could we get a Preschool/Daycare Going?
a. Complete a needs assessment & liaise with the local licensing board
b. Work with a local elementary school in order to put a “container” (portable) in their yard (would need a fence, toys, equipment etc.) OR
c. Work with the parks board, in order to put a portable in a park OR
d. Work with a building, such as a church, school or house and fix it up OR
e. Build a brand new center from the ground up (OR)
f. Collaborate with a school, or daycare and using a room in their facility OR
g. Decide on operating a parent participation preschool
